“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:3)

Prophecies require patience. We want God’s word to be about us, about our time, about what’s going to happen in the near future.

But more often than not, God’s time doesn’t fit our time. He works in terms of decades and centuries, not days and weeks.

Wait for it.

Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. (John 11:5)

Jesus may have been born a baby into this world, but the decision to do so was made with complete awareness of what he would go thru.  He did it for love.  Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus.  Jesus loves you too.

“Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is.” (Psalm 39:4)

We don’t like to think about death in our society. We do our best to keep it clean and sterile and perfectly contained within the halls of our funeral parlors.

We certainly don’t like to think about our own mortality. Yet it often helps us gain perspective when we realize that our time on this earth is finite; we won’t live forever as we are now. Death will come, and we will transition to a new kind of life. We will live with God forever if we have been faithful to him.

Live your life as if this life isn’t all there is. Because it’s not.

But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said. (Exodus 8:15)

Many people cry out to the Lord for relief when times are hard.  And when the Lord answers, they then forget about him.  Do not be one of those people.

“Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” (Job 2:10)

When someone turns to God and says, “Why me?”, it’s rarely because something good has happened. Usually it’s because of a time of hardship.

We expect good things from God. We often feel like we deserve them.

We don’t expect bad things. Those things seem unjustified.

A big part of maturity is being able to receive both good and bad, and in all things, hold on to our faith in God.

For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory. (Deuteronomy 20:4)

We win.  God’s people will always win in the end.  God is on your side.  We are engaged in spiritual warfare that requires great courage.  It is easy to forget that the outcome is decided.  We win.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

The most basic point of faith is believing that God exists. Next, we have to believe that he wants to be in a relationship with us, that he will give us life alongside of his.

Do you believe this things? If not, take some time to read the articles on this website. If so, take the next step and give your life to God.

His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. (Luke 1:50)

This is a time of year when many people are celebrating Christmas with multi-generational families.  What a great time to talk about how God’s mercy and grace have been shown in different generations.  Share the God stories of your families.

“When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.” (Psalm 94:18)

When we are weak, he is strong. When we can’t go on, he’s there for us. God is faithful.
