“As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so he who goes down to the grave does not return.” (Job 7:9)
Many times the Bible faithfully reproduces the words of humans. Here we have the despairing cry of a man who sees no hope for the future. Job saw little hope of anything good happening after death.
But we know that a man can return from the grave. We follow a man who rose on the third day, who left behind an empty tomb, who gives us all the hope of life without end.
The view is very different from this side of the cross. We know that death is but a moment, while the life that God offers has no end.
