Do not swell on past sins.  You are forgiven so do not live in that guilt and shame.  Do not dwell so much on what God did in the past that you miss the amazing things he will do in your future.

Your spiritual leaders should always be examples first.  If you follow them, and they are following Jesus, you know where you will end up.

Following Jesus will never be the popular thing to do.  If you think it is, maybe you are not doing it right.

On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. (Acts 20:7)

Evidently the main purpose of Christians meeting on Sunday was to share the communion meal.  Paul used this opportunity to preach.  Any preacher today could also preach until midnight — and he would be gone the next day.

Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! (I Corinthians 9:16)

Preaching that changes the world is not done because it is noble or good.  It is preaching done because good news has to be shared.  Good preachers have to preach.

“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ” (Luke 16:31)

God’s word is powerful.  Use it to speak truth.  If they are not convicted by truth, nothing will faze them.
