So Moses brought their case before the Lord … (Numbers 27:5)

by on Dec.11, 2017, under Messages

That is what spiritual leaders do when facing decisions:  bring it before the Lord.  Let me encourage you to pray about every decision you make today.  It will start forming a habit that will serve you well all of your life.

An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins. (Proverbs 29:22)

Anger and temper will do nothing but cause trouble — for you and for others.  Ask God to help you learn to control your emotions.

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, (Ephesians 1:15)

Two things to work on today:  strengthen your faith and demonstrate your love for other Christians.

And this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she ws found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:18)

It was a virgin birth.  It was a miracle.  And the birth of Jesus changed everything for us.  He was born to die and be raised for our salvation.

Now Naomi had a relative on husband’s side, from the clan of Elimelech, a man of standing, whose name was Boaz. (Ruth 2:1)

Naomi was the mother-in-law of Ruth.  Ruth marries Boaz and they are ancestors of Jesus.  God worked in their lives for his glory.  Just like he works in yours.

But Moses said, “O Lord, please send someone else to do it.” (Exodus 4:13)

And it was right after this that the Lord’s anger burned against Moses.  God worked with every excuse Moses had to not return to Egypt.  But the only thing that angered God was when Moses said he did not want to obey.  Think about it.

Baby Jesus Is Not Jesus Lite

by on Dec.03, 2017, under Hope

Baby Jesus is everywhere this time of year.  He is in Nativity scenes and live mangers.  He is a baby doll here and a live baby there.  He is the center of children plays and Christmas stories.  Away in a Manger and Joy to the World.  Christmas songs everyone knows that were written about baby Jesus.

Babies are cute, sweet, and cuddly.  Baby Jesus is no exception.  For many people, baby Jesus is Jesus lite.  You know, all the fun without all the difficult stuff.  Tastes good but no calories.  And that is the way many people want to see Jesus.  Christmas and baby Jesus is not near as intense as Easter with all that talk of dying and resurrection.

But do not be fooled by baby Jesus.  He is not the sanitized version of the Son of God.  Here is why…

Baby Jesus grew up.  He died.  And he was raised from the dead.  That is why he was born in the first place.

Jesus came from heaven to earth to save us from our sins.  He did that by dying on that cross.

So baby Jesus is not just a cute story for Christmas.

He is the way, the truth, and the life.  And no one comes to the Father except by him.

So look beyond the baby and see the Savior of the world.

He wants to be your Savior too.

Blessings,

steve

“I have not made trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied. “But you and your father’s family have. You have abandoned the Lord’s commands and have followed the Baals. (I Kings 18:18)

Always commit to following God’s commands.  When trouble comes, and it will, know that you have been faithful.  Others may blame you, but your conscience will be clear.
