“If a man dies, shall he live again?” (Job 14:14)

Thanks to Jesus, we know that the answer to this question is:

When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did… (Genesis 39:3)

The best road to success is to follow the Lord.  People will notice.  Just be sure they know the reason.  Give God the credit for your success.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8–9)

These instructions were given to a king, yet I think we all need to keep them in mind. It’s not the rich and powerful who need our support. We are to judge fairly, not as the world judges. We are to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” (Mark 9:7)

God affirmed Jesus by acknowledging the relationship, declaring his love, and validating his worth.  That is a great model for us to use.  Try it.

“Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing.” (Joshua 3:15–16)

How would you like to be one of those priests? You go walking toward a raging river, carrying a heavy box. You know that if God doesn’t work a miracle, you’ll tumble in and be swept away. And God parts the water when your feet touch the water!

That takes faith. You have to really believe in God and His instructions.

How are you walking? Are you ready to take some risks for God? Or will you always play it safe?

And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised. (Hebrews 6:15)

Learn from the example of Abraham.  Be patient and wait on God.  He will keep his promises.  Always has.  Always will.

“You forgave the iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin. You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger.” (Psalms 85:2–3)

God is slow to anger and quick to forgive. Remember that He wants to take away your sin and make you holy again. He doesn’t want to punish anyone, but wants to see everyone come to Him.

Get right with God. He’s waiting to forgive you and take away your sin.

Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Luke 18:39)

There are people in our world who are desperate to know Jesus.  Be sure you are cheering them on, not trying to shut them up.

“Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.” (Job 42:3)

At the end of the book of Job, Job comes to realize a great truth: humans are in no position to question God. We can’t know all that He knows or see all that He sees. Yet at times we speak with arrogance, stating that this thing or that thing is wrong, just because it goes beyond our understanding.

Be still and know that the Lord is God. Trust in His wisdom, His power, and His goodness.

For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is. (Colossians 2:5)

Christians are always connected to each other because of our faith in Christ.  Now and forever.
