“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms 23:4)

Life can be hard. Circumstances can be dangerous. Sickness and death will surround us, violence may cross our path, hard times may be in store for us.

But God has promised to be with us. That should be a great comfort. He never said that He would take all suffering out of our lives. But He did promise to walk beside us through the valley.

Judgment is coming and those who do not know God, or who do not obey the good news of Jesus.  Obey God.

“And David said to Michal, “It was before the LORD, who chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me as prince over Israel, the people of the LORD—and I will celebrate before the LORD.” (2 Samuel 6:21)

Don’t make pleasing other people your goal when you go to worship. You present your worship to God. Don’t seek to offend people, but don’t make your worship about pleasing others.

Sometimes I think we need a little more celebration. Celebrate what God has done. Celebrate what people have done in the name of God. Celebrate the church and its members. Celebrate God.

Peaceful thing is a beautiful thing. It requires a clean conscience. It requires reconciliation with others. And it requires placing our trust in the living God.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

Jesus is talking about salvation, but it also true in so many other things.  Do not rely on yourself to do the impossible.  You cannot.  God can.  Ask.

“Please, my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted to us, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’” (Judges 6:13)

What would you ask if you found yourself face to face with an angel? Many would want to know why this happened and why that didn’t. Maybe you too would say, “I’ve heard that God used to do great things, but I haven’t seen any of that for myself.”

Respectful questioning of God is accepted in the Bible. Share your doubts with Him, knowing that eventually He will take them all away.

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children… (Ephesians 5:1)

Amazing.  God loves us as his children.  Be like your Father.
