Dead or alive?

by on Jun.03, 2018, under Hope

Constantin Reliu is dead. At least, that’s what the courts in Romania have declared. After spending 20 years in Turkey, he returned to his native country only to find out that his wife had him declared dead. In fact, according to the filing, Reliu has been dead for the last 15 years. The judge refused to overturn this declaration, saying that Reliu had made his appeal too late.

So Constantin Reliu is legally dead. And the court says it’s decision is final and can’t be changed.

When Jesus had the apostle John write a letter to the church in Sardis, He told that church: “I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.” (Revelation 3:1) The congregation thought it was alive. Everyone around thought it was alive. But Jesus knew that the church was really dead.

So He instructed them:

“Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent.” (Revelation 3:2–3)

How about you? Have you lost the faith you once had? Are you still doing the things you did at first or have you allowed your faith to go to sleep? Are you dead or alive?

Turn back to God’s Word. Learn it. Live by it. Bring your faith back to life.

“If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.” (Revelation 3:3)

Jesus is coming back. We don’t know when. But I know that I want my faith to be alive when He comes.

Wake up. Come back to life. Come back to Jesus.
