In a world of darkness, God is our light.

It is a basic truth of our faith.  Christians do not stay the way the used to be.  We repent.  Not just be sorry, but we work to change our lives.  Live penitent.

Jesus is Lord. That means He has been given all authority. That means we are to obey Him.

Jesus is the Messiah. This Hebrew term refers to the Chosen One, specifically God’s Chosen One, the One through whom salvation comes. There is no other name by which we can be saved, we can obtain eternal life.

Jesus is Lord. Jesus is the Messiah.

Today begins Yom Kippur, the Jewish celebration of the Day of Atonement. It’s the day when they remember God’s forgiveness.

May we remember every day that God has completely removed our guilt, taking it as far away from us as the east is from the west.

In the midst of all their foolish talk, Job’s friends did get a few things right. Like these questions.

Can we somehow put God in our debt? Can we do so many good things that He will owe us something? Can we have so much faith that God will be forced to reward us?

Answer: NO

Salvation has always been by grace. And it always will be.

Although our sins testify against us, O Lord, do something for the sake of your name. For our backsliding is great; we have sinned against you. (Jeremiah 14:7)

God is longing to do great things among us.  Even in the midst of our sin.  Repent, confess, and ask.  Great things will be done.
