Your wealth, merchandise and wares, your mariners, seamen and shipwrights, your merchants and all your soldiers, and everyone else on board will sink into the heart of the sea on the day of your shipwreck. (Ezekiel 27:27)

It is a myth that your wealth can take care of you.  It can all perish in an instant.  Depend on the things that will last forever.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” (Proverbs 1:7)

Some people want to show their intelligence by rejecting God, but there is no true wisdom without God. Only He can show us what is true and what is just an illusion.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

This is perhaps the most well known verse in the Bible.  And perhaps should be.  God’s love for you was demonstrated when he gave the only Son he had to save you.  Believe in him and you will live forever.

“Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says the LORD. “I will protect them from those who malign them.” (Psalms 12:5)

God’s eyes are on those who need Him most. We will be judged by how we treat the least of these. If we are hard-hearted toward the needy, God will be hard-hearted toward us.

Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:32)

There is never a time to approve of sin.  Never.  Love the sinner, but that does not mean you approve of his/her sin.

“Remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”” (Acts 20:35)

The world seems to tell us that getting is better than giving away, that accumulating is better than sharing. But Jesus taught us this important truth: It’s more blessed to give than to receive.

“The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head. (Obadiah 15)

Scripture often reminds us that what happens to us is often determined by how we treat others.  The Golden Rule really does matter.  Treat people as you want to be treated.  Treat people as you will be treated.

“O Sovereign LORD, you are God! Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.” (2 Samuel 7:28)

God will do what He has promised. We must never forget that. When things seem bleak, when all hope appears lost, we need to hold on to that truth: God will do what He has promised.

I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kngdom of God is greater than he.” (Luke 7:28)

You have an exalted position in the kingdom of God.  You are made for kingdom greatness.  Be great today.

“But you, O God, are my king from of old; you bring salvation upon the earth.” (Psalms 74:12)

Read this psalm. The author is tired and discouraged. It feels like God has abandoned him.

Yet he clings to the belief that God is who He has always been. God still has power. God can still act.

I hold that same belief. Do you?
